How Erectus Are We? is an investigation into the remains of Homo Erectus in Java based on the oral stories of the Sangiran people and data in the Sangiran Archaeological Museum, Central Java. This work focuses on how Homo Erectus evolved to survive and its legacy to human behaviour today.
How Erectus Are We? is a combination of collages of visual art installations, documentaries, archives, animation, smartphone augmented reality and dance-theatre performances. This work was done collaboratively between performers, visual arts, archaeologists/paleoanthropologists, and residents around the Sangiran Archaeological Museum.
